Former BioIron President Made a Knight in France’s National Order of the Legion of Honor

Pierre Brissot, Professor Emeritus and former Head of the Liver Diseases Department at Rennes University Hospital, has been made a Knight in the France’s National Order of the Legion of Honor.

The National Order of the Legion of Honor (French: Ordre national de la Légion) is the highest French order of merit, both military and civil. It was established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. The order’s motto is “Honneur et Patrie” (“Honor and Fatherland”).

Prof Brissot, a hepatologist and member of the French Academy of Medicine, is renowned for his work on hemochromatosis. He served as the President of the International BioIron Society and received Marcel Simon Award from the BioIron Society for excellence in research of hemochromatosis. Prof Brissot currently serves as Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Hemochromatosis Association in France (France Fer Hémochromatose, FFH).
