Member Categories

What Types of Membership Are There?

Categories of membership include Regular, Honorary and Training members.

  • Regular members: Regular members are eligible to vote and may be elected to office in the Society.
  • Training members: (student/resident/postdoctoral members) Training members must be in good standing in an academic degree-granting program, post-doctoral fellowship or residency. Evidence for such standing should be provided by endorsement of the applicant’s research advisor or department chair. Training members are eligible to vote but cannot be elected to office.
  • Honorary members: The scientific committee may elect as honorary members of the society persons who have done special service to the Society (past BIOIRON presidents) and/or persons of distinction in their fields. As per decision of BIOIRON BOD of Jan 2019, BIOIRON members who have been in the Society for last 4 years, current on dues and have retired from academic positions or clinical services are also entitled to reduced registration fees for BIOIRON meetings scientific/clinical sessions.

Who Can Join?

Candidates include any scientist or physician, irrespective of place of residence, who is interested in iron research, and who has research, clinical or educational experience in iron science or an allied field.

Applications for membership are accepted throughout the year.
